- The Geochemical Society of Japan (hereinafter referred to as Society) annually recognize excellence and achievement in geochemistry, cosmochemistry and environmental chemistry.Nominations are accepted for the following GSJ awards.
• The Shibata Award
• The Geochemical Society of Japan Award
• The Geochemical Society of Japan Award for Young Researchers
• The Prize for Contribution to the Geochemical Society of Japan
• The Geochemical Journal Award

- The Shibata Award honors outstanding achievements in geochemistry, cosmochemistry and environmental chemistry.

- The Geochemical Society of Japan Award honors excellence and outstanding achievements in geochemistry, cosmochemistry and environmental chemistry by a Society member.

- The Geochemical Society of Japan Award for Young Researchers honors outstanding contribution to the advancement of geochemistry , cosmochemistry and environmental chemistry by a Society member who is 34 years old or younger on April 1st of the year during which the award is awarded.

- The Prize for Contribution to the Geochemical Society of Japan honors outstanding service by an individual or group to the advancement of geochemistry, cosmochemistry and environmental chemistry in Japan or the outstanding contribution to the Society.

- The Geochemical Journal Award honors the authors of exceptionally outstanding research articles published by Geochemical Journal.

- The Society Award Selection Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) selects the awarded based on the Award Criteria given elsewhere.

- The Committee members shall be appointed by the Society President and shall be approved by the Society Council. The committee chairperson should be a Councilor.

- The Committee shall report its award recipient decision to the Council, which in turn makes the final decision.
- 10
- The Council has an authority to make revisions or changes to this bylaw.
This bylaw is effective as of 17 October 2001.
