• Renewal of Geochemical Journal

Dear readers of Geochemical Journal

Geochemical Journal has been published and sold by Terra Scientific Publishing Company for more than 20 years, but the contract with Terra will be terminated at the end of this year, and Geochemical Journal will be published by the Geochemical Society of Japan using J-Stage from January 2022. J-STAGE is an electronic journal platform for science and technology information in Japan, developed and managed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Terra Scientific Publishing Company for their full cooperation so far.

The biggest change this time is that Geochemical Journal will be reborn as a fully open access journal. This means that anyone in the world will be able to read and download GJ articles. We expect that more people will be able to see GJ papers than ever before.

Authors will be charged an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publishing their papers. Initially, the APC will be maintained at the current level of open access (http://www.geochem.jp/information/info/2014/140401_1.html) by inheriting support from KAKENHI and academic societies, with the aim of making GJ financially independent over the next few years. For APC, we are planning to offer various discounts such as student support and special issue discounts.

We will publish accepted papers as early as possible before publication and as early as possible after publication. This means that the time from acceptance to publication will be several weeks to several months earlier than in the current condition.

In the new website, we are thinking of setting up the website so that when you click on the link of a paper, you will be redirected to the corresponding paper information in J-Stage, and we are also thinking of new projects different from the past ones.
We will make preparations so that Geochemical Journal can be viewed, subscribed to, and cited more frequently than before. Please look forward to the renewal of Geochemical Journal.

Thank you very much for your continued support and cooperation with Geochemical Journal.
